Sukham was just four years old when my husband and I received the worst news possible for any parent. Our child had been diagnosed with a condition known as Acute Myleoid Leukemia (AML).
AML progresses rapidly, and it disrupts the production of normal white blood cells, red blood cells and platelets. Symptoms include fatigue, fever, recurrent infections and bruising of the body. As the situation was spelled out to us in the hospital, we sat back – shocked and blank. The terms were alien to us, but the doctor’s expression wasn’t. We immediately knew that our lives were about to change.
This is a type of cancer that usually gets worse quickly if it is not treated. But the doctor told us that chemotherapy and novel therapy could possibly rid Sukham of this dreadful disease once and for all. However, the procedure costs a staggering 15 lakhs – an amount that I couldn’t even dream of putting together on my own.
My name is sunita and I am Sukham mother. I knew something was seriously wrong after noticing he had developed sickly green patches all over his body.
Watching my boy suffer unimaginable pain has been agonizing, driving us to desperation, despondency, and distress.
With only a meager income to draw from, my husband and I are struggling to pay his mounting bills.
To give you some perspective, we have already spent Rs 69 lakhs for Sukham treatment by selling all the property we own and borrowing from others.
The doctors have told us that he is responding well to the care he is currently receiving. But his complete treatment is time-bound – if we delay it could lead to dire complications.
Desperate, scared, and frantic, we’ve now pinned all hopes on the kindness of others to help bring our boy back from the jaws of death.
His future well-being depends on your support now. I implore upon you to donate generously, in order to secure for him a healthy new life.
